This past weekend was our garlic harvest–it looks and smells great as it hangs to dry now!

Hi folks,

This blog started out @ laurentamrazjudson.wordpress.com, and it quickly became less about me and my art and all about the Farm. So, I finally launched alchemyfarmhouse.wordpress.com, but that leaves a big gap between the posts from last year and this year because I am trying to transfer them but it is such a slow process. I am hoping you will forgive me if I stop transferring and just post a link to the former site. Much appreciated…keep reading, keep eating, and get your hands dirty this summer!

It’s very good to be back here, and I am so pleased to see you here also. Welcome back or just welcome if you have never visited before. Along with being a place where I share my art & writing, this is now the home for my farm & cooking adventures, named for our land, the Alchemy Farm, and food line, Alchemy Farmhouse. I hope you enjoy the new turn I am taking, and these updates. A little background on the name Alchemy Farmhouse…

Ever since I was a child, I have loved the ideas of alchemy–the mixing of spirituality, religion, science and nature. Taking something seemingly ordinary and transmuting it to something extraordinary fascinates me. After I became involved with cooking & growing food 6 years ago, I realized what incredible alchemy existed there: a seed to a giant pumpkin! Gorgeous blueberries to amazing jam! Thus the name seemed simple, because our home, the Alchemy farmhouse is where we take nature’s gifts grown with sun, water, and a bit of hard work and watch them turn into something wonderful. Our area of New York is rife with abundant farms and exciting food movements. Feel free to contact us for information on planning a visit to the Hudson Valley and check the blogroll for local groups we so love! Check back often for new photos as things ripen, and recipes and finished food photos as I catch back up with the site.

Thanks for checking out our new site. Last summer my personal website evolved into a page primarily for the farm, but it is high time it received its own space and name! There are so many wonderfully busy activities going on here to prepare for our best growing season yet. One of the most exciting aspects for 2009 is that we are now growing for market and for direct sale to restaurants and stores in our local Hudson Valley region. This venture will allow the magic of Alchemy Farmhouse to reach more people and help to spread our message on the importance of sustainable practices and locally grown food sources. Come visit us at the new Farmers Market at Robin’s Warehouse, route 32 New Paltz on Fridays! The market will begin operating June 12th and every Friday thereafter through the Fall, from 4pm-8pm. Talk about Happy Hour! It’s the perfect time to stock up for a whole weekend of local food! The market offers local produce and herbs, meats, wine, herbal products, cheeses, fruit and more!
